About this page
Not everyone who could help build Vulcan will fit neatly into a standard role description.
We are open to unusual backgrounds, but this is not a general inbox for vague enthusiasm. We are most interested in people who can clearly explain the leverage they would bring to Vulcan, and why that matters now.
You may be a strong fit for Vulcan if you
- understand building science or the real complexity of on-the-ground surveying
- care deeply about high-performance homes and want to improve outcomes for assessors and their clients
- are comfortable taking ownership beyond a narrow job description
- are willing to challenge the industry's status quo when better ways of working are possible
- combine practical judgment with a desire to build something new and useful
What we value
We are looking for people who bring more than a job title. That might include:
- deep field experience and a practical understanding of how assessments really work
- strong communication and stakeholder instincts
- the ability to spot what is broken and help build a better way
- comfort working in an early-stage environment where priorities evolve quickly
- a genuine desire to accelerate the future of home energy modelling and high-performance homes
What we are less interested in
- generic interest without a clear explanation of where you would add value
- candidates looking for a narrowly defined role in a highly structured environment
- people who like the mission but are not ready to take ownership in an early-stage company
What happens if you apply
If your background looks relevant, we will get in touch to start a conversation about where you could add the most value. That may map to an existing role, a reshaped scope, or a new position as Vulcan grows.
The most useful thing you can do when you reach out is explain specifically what problems you think you could help solve for Vulcan, and why your background gives you unusual leverage.
